Is a pair of games, **Trails in the Sky First Chapter**GOGHUMBLE and **Trails in the Sky Second Chapter**GOGHUMBLE released for PC and PSP (PS Vita PSP download). FC and SC detailed the main story of Estelle and Joshua, two new bracers in their home country of Liberl. The 3rd is a direct sequel detailing Kevin Graham's story, also set in Liberl. This game is known for having a lot of important series-wide lore, some important to Liberl (Trails in the Sky), some important to Crossbell (Trails to Zero/Trails to Azure), and some important to Erebonia (Trails of Cold Steel), and some which still hasn't been touched upon yet. Unfortunately, as the PSP is now 12 years old, XSEED is not able release on that platform. But that's okay, we finally have the whole trilogy in English!
Oh, and the PC trilogy is the best versions of the games yet, with all the features from the PSP versions (S-Craft skipping, widescreen support, HD graphics [used to be only in the Japan-only PSP-PS3 remaster in some cases and exclusive to this version in other cases], difficulty selection, balance changes), and more.
Is a series known for having a large amount of character dialogue (some of the largest game scripts around), but also Falcom's best in world-building and story-telling, and music.
The games feature turn-based combat with strategic character building ('quartz' and 'orbments' in game) and turn-based battles based upon manipulating turn order and positioning to your advantage ('battle order bonuses' and 'AT delay').
The 3rd is known for having the most brutal of difficulty in the series, having assumed you've mastered First Chapter and Second Chapter. As such, Nightmare is only frustration (moreso if it's a 'no carry over new game') and everyone's advised to play Normal. I found Normal challenging enough though. Hard should be pretty brutal, and Nightmare pretty impossible unless it's not your first time and you know exactly what to plan for.
The 3rd is around the size of First Chapter with 'memory doors' presenting side stories for many important characters, and a main scenario that's more of an open dungeon crawler than the exploring of Liberl found in First and Second Chapter.
Noting the rating, the game's tone touches on dark topics in parts, as can be hinted at in Second Chapter's tone.
If the gameplay description didn't scare you off though, it's really strongly advised you at least play First Chapter and Second Chapter before this game! It's really a direct sequel of a direct sequel. If you haven't, go purchase and play the first one instead!

You may transfer your save file from Trails in the Sky Second Chapter to the 3rd for a couple item bonuses at the start of the 3rd baed on your BP rank in SC. The game is entirely enjoyable without a transfer though.
Hang out on the Discord server, people will be talking about the 3rd (and other Falcom games). We have a channel for those who've completed the game (#trails-the-3rd), but you may hang out in the other channels and await completing the game yourself (or if you don't care about 'being spoiled' feel free to hang out in the channel itself as you play).
If everyone buys the 3rd (or FC and SC), maybe we'll see XSEED actually get the money to localize the remaining arc not in English, Crossbell!
